Welcome Letter from Unalaska City School Principal Mr. Ryan Humphrey
Dear Unalaska City School Families,
Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! We are excited to welcome our students and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and enjoy the summer months. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year as we “Go To Work” at Unalaska City School.
Our talented staff of educators have been in school throughout the summer to prepare classrooms for the new school year. We are grateful to our amazing custodial staff as they worked all summer keeping the building and grounds clean and ready to go for the school year.
Unalaska City School is such an outstanding place to learn and grow. We are proud of our school and have high expectations for each and every student. Our students are kind, compassionate, and eager to learn. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our overarching goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.
We are excited to return to our normal operating schedule at 8:30 A.M. on Monday, August 21st. Seventh through twelfth grade students will pick up their schedules and locker assignments in front of the office on the first day of school. Fifth and sixth graders will report to the high school auditorium on the morning of the first day to meet their teachers and to learn their schedules.
To demonstrate our commitment to safety, this year we will ask all visitors to enter only through the District office doors located near the swimming pool. All other doors to the school will be locked from 8:30-3:30. Upon entering the school all visitors should report to the office to receive a visitor's pass.
Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and academically. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on academic growth while focusing on building classroom community. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our district website and announcements sent through PowerSchool.
