Come join our school community as we celebrate the start to this new school year on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd.  Open House, an opportunity to peak into your student's classrooms and wander the hallways, begins at 5:00 in both buildings.  Classrooms and buildings will remain available until 6:00 pm.  The BBQ festivities will begin at 5:30 at EVE.  While you join us at EVE, there will be help available to finish your PowerSchool registrations and/or create logins for the Parent Portal and EduTrac Meal Service program. Student Transportation:  UCSD will be using three  14-passenger vehicles and multiple routes in the morning and afternoon as we safely bring students to school and back home.  As this will be new, we anticipate some revisions will be needed after the first week. Let’s work together to keep our students safe ... slow down in school zone and watch for our vehicles as they stop with flashing lights. UCSD Parents and Families,  We are excited to have the following new hires as part of our UCSD 2023-24 staff:   Eagle's View Elementary  Diane Rodriguez (1st Grade Teacher) – Will be joining us with 15 years of elementary teaching experience, the last 2 years have been with the Pribilof School District.  Dena Royal (2nd Grade Teacher) – Will be joining us after 3 years elementary teaching at Atka, AK.  Cherry Ann Galvez (3rd Grade Teacher) – Will be arriving from Cagayan de Oro City in the Philippines with 16 years elementary teaching experience.  Maria Theresa (Tess) Aficial (SPED teacher) – Will be joining us from Marikina City in the Philippines with 15 years’ experience as a Special Education Teacher.  Yuliia Zhovtiak (SPED Aide) – Moved to Unalaska from the Ukraine; a variety of job experiences and loves children.  Oona Tuttle (SPED Aide, Part-Time) – Has previous experience as a volunteer in elementary classrooms; she will be working part-time with EVE and KUCB.  Heidi Lucking (K-12 Student Support Services) - Has a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s degree and experience in related jobs.   Unalaska City School  Carly Morris (Principal) – Has 8 years leadership experience as a Special Education Director and Program Coordinator, as well as several years’ experience as a teacher;  She has moved here from Pakistan with family roots in Washington state.  Kyle Chapman (6th Grade Teacher) – Will be joining us from Puyallup, WA with 11 years teaching experience in WA, Alaska and Internationally.  Katie Bagley (Office Administration) – is re-joining UCS, in this new role, after 2 years of missing being around the students.  Heidi Lucking (K-12 Student Support Services) – Has a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s degree and experience in related jobs.
