Congratulations to Ms. Tyra Blackmon, our December/January Beacon Award Winner! Ms. Blackmon has been one of our Special Education Paraprofessionals for a little more than 2 years. In this role, one of the several anonymous nominations describe her unwavering dedication to students, especially those with diverse needs, with a calming presence that helps students feel safe, regulated and confident. Ms. Blackmon is recognized for the support she provides, colleagues, as well, by selflessly stepping in when help is needed. As others said, "She truly represents what it means to be a guiding light for our school community ...going above and beyond expectations without seeking recognition, spreading her love to everyone in our Unalaska community."
