Congratulations to Ms. Greta Bruce as our November Beacon Award Winner! Ms. Bruce has been with UCSD for 12 years as a teacher, student support staff, assistant principal and now as our new UCS principal! One of her nominees said that "Greta lifts students up! She meets them where they are and then stands by them as they take a step out of their comfort zone. Recently, we had a student belonging workgroup meeting. She was able to convince a few students to join who were very unsure of themselves. During the meeting, with her support, their voices became strong, providing insights that we all heard. It was obvious that the confidence in one student, in particular, had grown in ways that she won't go back from." Another said, "We would be absolutely lost without her. On a daily basis she not only does her job but picks up any slack left behind from other people. She is trusted and loved by students and staff." Greta is a Beacon of Light "because of her hard work and dedication" and "For her fairness" Greta "is a positive role model for her students and coworkers."
