I am so happy to have been given the opportunity to serve as the principal of Unalaska City School. Originally from the East Coast, I earned my bachelor’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook and later completed my master’s and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. I have lived in some of the world’s largest cities; Shanghai, Mexico City, Paris, and New York, and I never thought I would end up in a small town in Alaska, but I’m so happy that I did. Unalaska has truly become my home.
Over the past seven school years at UCS, I have taught 5th grade, 6th grade, and high school English and Social Studies, served as the Student Support Services Lead, and most recently as Assistant Principal. Each role has deepened my appreciation for our students, staff, and families, and I am thrilled to begin this next chapter together. Being part of this remarkable community has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life.
As principal, my vision is to foster a culture of care, a school where every student feels seen, valued, and supported, and where every person who walks through our doors knows they are welcome, no matter who they are, where they come from, or what language they speak. Together, we will work to strengthen our connections with one another, ensure that every student is prepared for success in life beyond high school, and celebrate the incredible diversity that makes our community so unique. It is my honor to help lead that work alongside all of you.
