I am honored and excited to serve as the new principal at Unalaska City Schools.  I have been a K-12 principal and Program Coordinator in the Bering Strait School District.  I served as an Assistant Principal, and Dean of Students in Charlotte, NC.  Most of my Administrative experience has been at the high school level and I absolutely love working with all-aged students. There is no better job in the world, than being a school principal!  Tonya, my wife and I have been married for 4 years. We have two sons and one daughter between us. As a family, we love spending time exploring, traveling, and entertaining.

Professionally, after earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Specialty Mathematics from Grand Canyon University, 2009. I have spent the last 16 years serving in various teaching and leadership capacities in education. While teaching, I earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University in 2015. I am passionate about finding ways to individualize instruction for students. I promote a culture of learning that gets students excited about learning new things and encourages them to engage with other students. I believe that a culturally responsive, best practices learning environment helps remove barriers to learning, and that is what I will strive to create at Unalaska City Schools.

I made the move to Unalaska City School District because I know that I can help make a positive difference here and provide stability in leadership. I am committed to the community and plan to be here for years to come. I am a supportive leader who will listen to the needs of students, families, staff members, and stakeholders. I will use my leadership skills to help accomplish the goals that we create together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.
