Welcome to the Technology Department of Unalaska City School District
Technologies used within the school district include SMART Technologies, Microsoft Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft Office 2016 Suite, SchoolMaster, and Gaggle, among many others to educate children.
Unalaska City School District follows strict internet safety guidlines for child and student protection.
Child Internet Protection Act
The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is a federal law enacted by Congress to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet on school and library computers. CIPA imposes certain types of requirements on any school or library that receives funding for Internet access or internal connections from the E-rate program - a program that makes certain communications technology more affordable for eligible schools and libraries. In early 2001, the FCC issued rules implementing CIPA. http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/cipa.htm.
As a school district receiving federal funding to pay a large portion of our Internet connection we are required to filter the Internet. Attached is a copy of the District's Internet Safety Policy.
Student Forms for Technology Use
Below are the forms needed for each student to complete at the start of the school year, in order to have access to the District's computers. Please take the time to read with your student the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and the Permission to Publish forms. They should understand the responsibillities in using the District's Network and responsible use of the Internet.
