| Frans Baake was born and raised in Holland. He was fascinated by maps and atlases at an early age, and his study of them inspired a desire to travel. When he finished school he went to an art school where he thought he wanted to become an architect. After finishing art school, he went to Amsterdam. He then became a graphic designer creating posters, books and other commercial work. Later on his interest changed from doing commercial art to art concerned with the aesthetics of the land. | |
