The Stars of Our Waters An Aleut, born in 1948, in Kodiak who spent many years creating paintings and sculptures, Alvin Amason learned to respect the land and animals from his grandfather. He holds a Master of Arts degree from Central Washington and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Arizona State. For Alvin Amason, education is, "to pick up tools." With these tools he says we can "build on our strengths and hone in and sharpen up our weaknesses." As an example, color comes easy to Amason, so he uses this strength to help him address more difficult aspects of composition. Mr. Amason is currently director of Native Art at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. |
