GLENN COLE

Unalaska City High School Principal

As a professional educator, I have been afforded the opportunity to work with students of many different cultural influences, intellectual capacities, and within an enormous array of economic diversity. Highlighting my work in education is my years in the US Peace Corps teaching native Basotho children in Lesotho, Southern Africa; multinational Air Force students in Mountain Home, Idaho; and the many precious Inupiat children of Tikigaq School, Point Hope, Alaska. In my twenty years as a professional educator, I have found that not all knowledge, understanding of societal morals, and benefactors of an enlightened humanity are obtained within the confines of the traditional

classroom. Additional experiences to those associated with the classroom, as indicated above, I have been granted the opportunity to act in a leadership role as a varsity coach in wrestling and volleyball over the past twenty years. This medium has provided me a method in which to convey acceptable morals of society to student athletes. Over my tenure in education, I also acted in an administrative role as Technology Advisor, Athletic and Activities Director, principal teacher of physical education, industrial technology, and vocational education. In Lesotho I wrote, was successful in receiving, and implemented grants to supply vocational and science equipment to Saint Patrick's Secondary School. I also implemented and administered an On-The-Job training program, focusing on vocational occupations while at Saint Patrick's. While in Mountain Home, Idaho, I served on the Elmore School District's Technology Advisory Board where we were influential in developing and implementing the district's technology program. Through these wide-ranging experiences, coupled with a rigorous Masters of Educational Administration program through National University, I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience connected with successfully administrating the financial and educational responsibilities associated with the operation of a healthy, successful school.
I am committed to to live and work in rural Alaska, and feel that Unalaska would provide the unique challenging atmosphere where I could thrive professionally and personally. I am very pleased to work in such a wonderful school district.
