Homework Policy of Mr. Wilson
Middle School and High School

Why I assign homework:
I believe that homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school. Homework is given to reinforce what has been taught in class, to prepare students for upcoming lessons, and to help students develop self-discipline, responsibility, and organizational skills.

When homework will be assigned:
Homework will be assigned throughout the week in both Math and Social Studies. I will make every effort to coordinate assignments with other teachers so that students are not swamped with excess work. However it is up to the student to budget their time in order to get all work done on time.

Student's homework responsibilities:
1. All assignments will be completed and turned in on time.
2. Students are responsible for finding out about and making up work missed due to a absence.
3. Students will always turn in their very best work.
4. Students will share graded work and progress reports with parents and bring signed envelopes back to school.

Student Agenda Notebooks:
Students will write all assignments in their agenda notebooks.

Parent's homework responsibilities:
Parents are the key to making homework a meaningful experience for their children. Therefore, I ask that you make homework a top priority. Provide your child with the necessary supplies and a quiet homework environment (students generally do much better on homework if it is not done in front of the T.V.). Provide your child with praise and support for a job well done, and please contact me if you have any problems.
Parents should be sure to check work when it is sent home, discuss the work with their child and double check progress reports to insure grades have been credited properly. In addition, be sure to look at your child's student agenda notebook, as it should list all of their assignments for a given day.

Teacher's homework responsibilities:
I will check all homework, give feedback to students and parents, facilitate paper management, and send home progress reports about every two weeks. I will contact the parent if there are concerns regarding their child.
