Haleigh
The High School Performance Department selected Haleigh as Student of
the Week for the following reasons:
- Haleigh has been an invaluable member of the Islander
Yearbook staff. She created professional layouts, multimedia presentations,
and spreadsheets, while working in a fast-paced, high-stress class that
produced the yearbook, graduation programs, and graduation slide show.
She was the advertising manager and displayed great organizational and
people skills. Haleigh has mastered all of the skills necessary to becoming
a real asset on any publications crew! Haleigh has also taken my journalism
and art courses. She is an exceptional student who takes responsibility
for her success. It's been a pleasure to have her in my classes. Way
to Go Haleigh! Mrs. Goodwin, Our Times Newspaper Advisor, Islander Yearbook
Advisor, Art, Journalism and Photojournalism Teacher.
- Haleigh has been a student of mine since she was in
5th grade. She shows a consistency to excellence that is refreshing.
Haleigh, while still in junior high, became THE chapter member of our
school's unofficial "100+ words a minute" club when she typed
106 wpm. That gave me a glimpse of the kind of dedication, determination
and diligence that define Haleigh. She is an amazing young woman who
sets high goals for herself and then works to accomplish those goals.
Haleigh, keep in touch after you graduate. I want to know what you do
with the life you've been given. Ms. Teresa Gurley, Business Teacher
- Haleigh is one of the most promising leaders I have
ever met. Her humility and genuine caring is evident in her daily interactions.
She does not shy away from the challenges that face her and other young
people and her willingness to find solutions to problems make her one
of the most positive influences in Unalaska, Alaska. It is rare that
I can find a student who is confident enough to challenge me in my words
and
- Haleigh did not hesitate in speaking her convictions.
I respect Haleigh and the fact that she was proud of her fellow students
and all the good and positive things coming from students. It was a
pleasure to meet her, have her serve as our "tour guide" and
Unalaska, Alaska history teacher. She is a young person that I am proud
to "look up to" and say that I had the pleasure of meeting.
I expect only the very best from her and envy the many lives she touches!
