The Junior High Department selected Katie as Student of the Week for the following reasons:

• Katie excels through perseverance and effort. She completes her work with considerable diligence; when she does not understand a key concept, she pursues harder until she unlocks the mystery. She presses on until things make sense. She has heart: If education fails to engender a passion for uplifting people, it's missed its main mark. Katie hits the target. Mr. Paden, Science Teacher
• Katie is an outstanding member of the junior high. She continually tries her best in both math and social studies and is willing to ask questions to facilitate her own learning process. In addition she exhibits kindness and respectness towards her classmates and all that she comes in contact with. Great job Katie and keep up the good work. Mr. Wilson, Math and Social Studies Teacher
