Monica
The Principal's Pick for Student of the Week is Monica for the following reasons:

  • Monica Southworth is a remarkably talented young lady. She has made good use of her time in school to develop an enviable array of skills. In addition to being an extremely successful academic, Monica is constantly finding ways to give back to the school and community. She is presently serving her second term as student representative to the school board and was once again team captain of the district's National Sciences Bowl team. Monica accomplishes all this while still finding time to decoratively paint the new pediatric room at the clinic and write articles for the Fisherman. Wow! You have a bright future Monica, and thank you for all you have done to improve our school and community. Mr. Conwell, Principal
  • Monica is absolutely devoted student. She took a challenge and switched to more advanced language class, she is always on task and works independent really well. Her compositions are always of the highest quality and very interesting to read.Monica is a very pleasant person to work with. Mrs.Roraback, Foreign Language Teacher
  • As a student, Monica has exceeded my expectations in every way. She gives 100% in everything she does, whether it is sports, classwork, or volunteer work. Mr. Border, Math & Science Teacher
  • Monica did an excellent job as this year's team captain of the Unalaska Ocean Raider's Tsunami Bowl team. I was very impressed with her leadership and enthusiasm and hope that next year's team captain is equally as outstanding. Ms. Rudio, Teacher/Chaperone
  • Monica Southworth is a stellar band member. Her tone and amazing technique on the flute make her a vital member of our band. Along with being a key player, Monica is a strong leader in our band and helps out a great deal with other students especially when leadership is needed most. We will really miss Monica next year, but I am sure her future musical endeavors will bring her great joy! Congratulations to Miss Southworth. Mrs. Duhan
