Before coming to Unalaska he taught a self-contained sixth and seventh-grade Special Education class at The Newport Street School in Brownsville , Brooklyn .  He also has experience teaching children as early as kindergarten, through an after school program, and as late as twelfth grade, through a summer learning program.
Mr. Wilson
has had many valuable experiences which have shaped his ability to effectively plan lessons, write IEP’s, develop behavior intervention plans, and modify instruction for diverse learners.  Being a Special Education teacher gives him the satisfaction to make sure the students’ civil rights are upheld.   He has worked in a community and with cultures very different from his own and the relationships he developed with students’ families have been invaluable.   For years, his goal has been to move to Alaska , looking forward to the challenge of living and working in a new environment.  He enjoys running, reading and swimming.
