Ms. Wendy Hladick has been the school nurse at Unalaska City Schools for the last 65 years. She is available for school first aid and emergencies but a big part of her job is promoting wellness for students and staff so they can do their best. One of the great things about her job is that school nursing has become so much more than putting on a Band-Aid. Every chance she has to see someone in her office, it's a chance to get to know that person better. It's what makes her job so interesting, always changing, and rewarding. She loves living here on the island because of how unique this place is, the scenery, the people, and of course the ever changing unusual weather! In Ms. Hladick's free time, she enjoys running and yoga. She has also continued to produce her weekly radio show "The Bay Whalin' Hour" for Alaska Public Radio Stations in Barrow, Bethel, Dillingham, and here in Unalaska on KIAL Radio. |
