If you are speaking to a friend that English is his or her second language,you might want to:

S l o w D o w n When You Talk.

Chunk your ideas.
Example: "I want . . . to find . . . some milk, eggs, and cheese."

Use Basic English
Instead of saying: "I tried to catch her eye."

Say: "I tried to get her attention."

Don't yell.
Talking louder doesn't make your speech clearer.
