Moses Dirks

Mr. Moses Dirks was born on the Aleutian Island of Atka, Alaska. He has lived in Unalaska for the last ten years. Mr. Dirks decided to become a certified elementary teacher after teaching Aleut Language and Culture with the Aleutian Region School District for twelve years. He received his Master of Arts in Teaching from the Alaska Pacific University in 1996. After receiving his degree, Mr. Dirks was hired to teach Aleut Language and Culture to grades K-12 in Unalaska School District in 1997. Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, Mr. Dirks began teaching grade three in Unalaska. Mr. Dirks likes teaching third grade and enjoys his students. In his spare time, Mr. Dirks continues to practice the subsistence hunting and fishing activities that he learned as a child. Mr. Dirks likes Unalaska because of the weather, the sea, and landscape which is similar to his childhood home in Atka.
